Creative Ways to Pass Out Your Business Cards
Once you have designed a business card, what are you going to do with it? The answer to this question is much more important than any you may have answered while designing your business card concerning color or copywriting. The most important step is yet to come. Passing out your business cards creatively is vital to using these small marketing tools effectively.
What exactly is meant by “creatively” passing out your business cards? In an earlier newsletter we discussed how to handle business cards under normal circumstances. However, using these powerful marketing tools creatively can separate you from your competitors and catapult your sales to new levels.
A helpful attitude when thinking of creative methods to pass out your business cards is to try to think like a shameless ten year-old child. Have no fear, just get your business card out into the world no matter how silly the idea seems. Often, the best ideas are the ones that other people think are ridiculous.
Some ideas to get you started:
In addition to payment on a bill: You never know when a big decision-maker may be opening the mail or come across your card on someone’s desk.
Scholarly cards: Place them in related books at the local library. People that pick up a book related to your business is already interested in your subject; why not provide them with an industry connection?
Instead of a napkin: Use the back of your cards as notepaper: Whenever you need to write a phone number or important information down for someone, use the back of your business card as a notepad. This way, they will keep your card around to refer to the important piece of information. You never know when your card will get flipped over.
As a nametag: At conferences and trade shows, use your business card as a nametag instead of the ones provided. If your card is colorfully designed (see www.business-cards.com for a selection of full-color business cards), this will draw attention to both you and your business.
Leave a trail: In office stores, Wal-Mart, Target, or suit stores leave your card behind on the counter in a related aisle. You never know when a potential client will be browsing the aisles.
Magnetic attraction: Go buy some magnetic tape, and put it on the back of your cards. People will put your card on a fridge somewhere, they just do. It’s just where a magnet is supposed to go.
These ideas are a great starting point for using your business card creatively. Depending on your line of work, you can get even more creative. Have fun!
